So Often - - Evil Over-plays Its Hand

Let’s talk about Monique Marvez in a positive way this morning in her analysis of the latest doings with George Zimmerman.  She had a key bit of gage advice this morning.  She said “The thing with Evil is that evil always over-plays its hand”.  You take your typical George Zimmerman who had his little taste of fame, and he’s discovered he Likes it- - and is loathe to step out of the lime light after his fifteen minutes of fame.  This latest incident with “Georgie” is that he assaulted his wife and her father- - and the portion in dispute is that Zimmerman pointed to his jutting gun and intoned he would use it is the father made a false move.  Zimmerman smashed an I Pad, and those things are not cheap.  Who does he think he is - - Jack Deverouz Jr?  And there was a 911 call to the police made by Shelly Zimmerman and I had this definite déjà vu feeling of the call Nicole made about OJ at her apartment and she says ‘He’s back” and then she goes on to become increasingly alarmed- - as OJ is shouting in the background.  As it turns out in this latest case the calls came and neither Shelly nor her father wanted to press charges and I’m baffled as to why.  One report says “Actually George Zimmerman left his gun in the trunk this day”.   Of course you already know about the two speeding tickets- that aren’t cheap either.  But the thing is you combine Evil with a person with an Ego - - and Firearms- - and you’re definitely headed for trouble- - and these situations just don’t go away on their own- - they keep turning up as problems till some really bad crisis occurs again, and you just hope nobody gets killed.

So this Race obsession Rush Limbaugh and other right wingers have with President Obama.  How can they say that remarks like "Barock, the magic Negro" aren't racist?  And as we said yesterday, Rush was inserting the president's Race- - in a discussion we've been having about Syria for the past three weeks without one person mentioning the President's race before Rush did yesterday.  And now Rush Limbaugh talks about how "Our whole foreign policy is nothing but shucking and jiving".   I say, "Hey, pal- - try to update your termanology a little- - the Jefferson's went off the air thirty years ago".
I was going to use as a counter-example in a story that I ended up not writing- - about this time me and my parents were on this boat crossing this Strait up north between Vancouver Island and Olympia National park or whatever.  And the boat was rocking from side to side and it was kind of windy and the thought flashed for a second “It would be really funny if the boat turned over on its side”.  But we come to this 64 year old swimmer swimming the strait from Cuba to Key West.  And people who actually engage in the long distance sport question how or if she did it (in a fear better swimmers than she have been unable to do) and they think maybe she was at times being pulled by a toll line on the boat because for a forty knot distance- - she was averaging six knots per hour- - which is a pretty good clip.  People say “You talking about swimming 101 miles- - hell, I couldn’t even do 101 laps of the pool!”   And they say, “Well maybe she was caught up in a favorable current”.  But if you know anything at all about tides or winds- - you know that in narrow straits- - - if anything she’s be encountering swift cross-currents attempting to pull her off course.  But they are continuing to investigate.

So why are the alligators in the Everglades and swamps of the Gulf so large now?  They say it’s because alligators are protected in the Bayou and elsewhere  just like the Jerry Reed song talks about - - so the gators aren’t killed off at an early age before they have a chance to get big.  Now they catch a 741 pound gator and someone else a few days later captures a 730 pound alligator.  So I guess these gators were around 13 feet long- and gators as long at 19 feet have been said to exist.  I still think alligators need to be a protected species, myself.

This morning in deference to the Great God Two-sides I was thinking of this sermon my parents heard at their Church twenty years ago when I was not in attendance.  It was a cheeky contrast to what Heaven is like as opposed to what Hell is like.  You will forgive the racial stereotypes employed here.  In heaven- - all of the government philosophers are English, the chefs are French, the women are Italian,  the engineers and technicians are Swiss, and the Army is Israeli.  But in Hell - the chefs are English (expect tea and crumpets at the next cocktail party) and the Military is French, the government administrators are Italian. The women are Swiss, and the “higher philosophers” are German.  I thought that one might tickle your funny bone.

Just a little word about insurance and law suits. Just recently I’ve heard stuff I have a basic moral problem with.  It seems to me that – for instance- - paying the “blue book value’ of stolen items- - is not Satisfactory in the least.  This is not some business market deal- - this is reparations from something lost or stolen from you.  So what you have to ask yourself what it will take in order to be “made whole”.  If someone steals some electronic device- - the question isn’t“What would a potluck throw of the dice on E Bay land you?” because you know that You take good care of your things and maintain them properly.  So we aren’t talking about trash; we are talking about things you have a use for and use every day.  One has to ask himself “If YOU were going to replace what you have NOW - - in terms of function or whatever- - PLUS whatever emotional distress is suffered, what would THAT be worth to you?

As you know I am the master of the preminotion.  I had this strange feeling that if I put that Lucifer diary book in my closet- - out of sight- - that “something bad would happen” almost as if the book were a physical jinx.  Yeah- - talk about a loser with an ego- - the guy who wrote this book thinks he is Lucifer or something- - and frankly I’d like to get that book out of this place because it’s a jinx.  This morning I glanced in the closet and saw some garment on the floor.  It turned out to be my rain coat- - and the handle of the plastic hanger was broken off.  I then saw an unaccounted for light blue heavier hanger and wondered what had been on that- and then I remembered.  But then I noticed that the CD boxed sets had been overturned- - and all of those CD ROM and computer games and DVD’s in the closet had been all messed around with and I had the feeling “something else used to be there, too” but I couldn’t figure what.  And I noticed that green cloth tote bag Judy gave me last Thanksgiving had been pulled out- - but right now I don’t think anything has actually been taken.  Perhaps the staff is looking for stolen goods from other people’s rooms and they’re being thorough.  Or just maybe- - like all these times I’ve seen the door open and close - - some drunken yahoo around here just breaks into people’s rooms and begins rummaging around like an animal- - and if you’re lucky nothing is taken.

It seems that the content of the President’s speech tonight will be drastically re-vamped unless as Stephanie intoned this morning- - perhaps Obama was playing 3 D chess all along and this was the outcome he was anticipating with Assad being pressured by Vladamir Putin- - to give up his “weapons of mass destruction”.  John Kerry had suggested almost in mockery that Assad should turn all of his poison gas weapons to the UN and have them destroyed.  But now it looks like that is going to happen.  So there is apparently “Nothing to fight about any more”.  I am still not that confident any more than Brady Black saying “All of my doubts about Christin have been resolved”.  Not so fast.  We know that Putan and Bashier Assad are still joined at the hip and that Syria is almost another province of Russia and Russia’s biggest Naval base is in Syria.  Remember that Putin used to be head of the KGB - - so it’s not as if he used to be a background singer when Lennon recorded “Give Peace a Chance”.  Putin and Assad both still fall into that dark category of “Not a Nice Guy”.  But I’m happy for Obama’s sake because at least he doesn’t have that political banana peel under his feet any more.  The Senate has decided to delay any debate on the Syrian Intervention vote.   We all heard at least ONE of the President’s “interviews’ last night.  The President rambled and rambled and essentially said nothing we didn’t already know.    Speaking of things we don’t already know- - a twelve year old writing about what it’s like to be bullied in Junior High School.  Actually I’m waiting for “Brick” from “The Middle” to write his own book on that topic next year.  I’m sure it will be a more scholarly and intellectual effort than this middle school kid from Baltimore.

As to unfinished business from yesterday,  I looked you the You Tube “Snowbird” by Anne Murray.  But I wanted the lyrics written down so I could look at and contemplate them at my leisure- - which I found.   OK, I guess this song is a bit more “Complex” than your garden variety pot song out there- - released in June of 1970.  I then went to the Yoco Ono site and listened to the opening track or whatever of “Yoco Ono and the Plastic Ono Band”.  Unless my math is horribly wrong - - Yoco Ono is turning- not seventy, but Eighty this year!  Hoy Ve!  Of course in the song “Starting Over” there is a line about “Let’s just fly away” and recapture our live and get alone like we did in the early days”.  That could apply to just about any marriage.
