Just Another Day

Today President Bush signed that pivital housing bill designed more to bail out the Fanny Maes and the Freddy Macs than to help the individual home mortgage victim. Of course you know the borrower now has to give up new information to the government. Also if he sells his home rather than chose to pay it off, it's worked so that the bank gets ninety percent of the interest. All the same the President held a "quiet" signing ceremony because I suspect he didn't want the specific terms of this bill too well known. In terms of the economy as a whole the GNP is apparently still rising and not falling and now they are actually saying more jobs have been created. And we've had a rash of news coming out that this or that bank is NOT as in debt we we previously believed.

Ted Stephens that Republican senator from Alaska was indicted yesterday for getting special favors from the oil companies, although the specific list of pecadillos seems small compared to the sins of others. This is the famous senator who built the Bridge to Nowhere connecting up an Alaska island where I imagine the people there didn't even WANT the bridge, and most of them probably are going to move now. You know how disagreeable the senator has been in committee hearings. Even so the experts say it isn't a "done deal" that he will lose in November since he over the years has brought so many pork barrel projects to his constituants.

Yesterday's earthquake here in California was 5.4 on the rictor scale but from my personal vantage point it felt bigger. I remember the Whittier one on October first 1987 and believe me this one felt much bigger than that one, with violent swaying. Of course I don't know what kind of soil conditions we may have here. I'm a little surprised at the air play the earthquake has had in the national news since we used to get five & a half point quakes all the time. But the past fourteen years it has been quiet. Also this quake occurred in the middle of the day rather than in the morning or evening. The only time that happened before was in the movie "Earthquake".

Our esteemed governor has put California employees on Federal minimum wage at $6.15 an hour, which nobody can live on, till they vote out a budget. We go through this sort of thing every year in California. John and Ken say we don't need more education money because there are fewer kids. As far as I know we are at record student population numbers and they said last year was the biggest year for newborn babies since 1957, and that's going back a ways.

We know about John Mc Cain's flip flops. Of course both he and Obama are flip flopping in the conservative direction. Both candidates are running to the Right as fast as they can. Even so Obama is only ahead five or so points in the polls, which indicates to me there is a vast untapped resavuar of Conservatism out there that will express itself at the ballot box. When Randi Rhodes used the phrase "reversable talking points" I thought of that questionaire where when you read it downward it has things like "Do you love me" Of course "Would you ever leave me?" I'd never do that. "Are you going to beat me up now?" I'm shocked you'd even ask. "Would you lay down your life for me". Honey you know I would. But then it says after you're married you read the questions and answers from the bottom of the page upward. I thought perhaps they were going to do something like this with Senator Mc Cain's questions and answers.

You may know that in the Charles Manson case the perpetrators were intending to take a wallet from a Black man and plant it as a key place to make the cops think a Black person committed the murders. But something went wrong and the damming evidence never surfaced. Something like this happened on Days of our Lives where this Hollings tape was destroyed with the full knowledge and agreement of a chief police detective on the case. Now he's having moral second thoughts. Meanwhile Paul Hallings isn't even dead but still alive in a basement, which might explain why they haven't found the body. But now the detective's wife, Hope read an E mail from John Black with the message "What happened to that key evidence in the Hollings case?" Normally with a criminal they have minutes to alter key evidence before the police catch up with them. This was the case in "Dial M for Murder". However in the TNG episode "Clues" they botched it the first time around but were given a second chance to "get it right" so to speak- - where everyone's memory was wiped out and they started fresh. But what if you had more than hours. What if you had more than days or weeks to "set up" and "plant" evidence? What if you had years? What if you had hundreds of years? Do you think you could get it "right"? This is the case with the Catholic Church which had nearly a hundred years before anything was even written down. People wonder what life would have been like if the Nazis had taken over at the end of WW II and, say, ruled for thirty years, till 1975. That seems an imense period of time. What sort of dastardly damage do you suppose they could do to our history books in that period? I don't know about you but I haven't had the most positive experiance when it comes to trusting or believing in the veracity of Christians. I'm not convinced by the things they say, and more important emphasize, that the Truth is even that important to them. I would love to be wrong. Both liberals and conservatives have more or less bought into the same "Story" about the origens of the Church. The only difference is that liberals have an almost religious belief in the LACK of any supernatural intervention. Yet they stress the importance of "The Faith" all the same. Just roll it over in your mind a little.

The importance of liberating women from the dominence of men cannot be over-stressed, because history has shown this is the BEST way to cure the over-population problem. Paul Erlich has stated that the optimal population of the world is two billion people. We are at seven billion now. There are untold problems we'd never even have to worry about were it not for the un spoken of overpopulation problem. Scientists have demonstrated animals begin to act in unpredictable ways when there is overpopulation. There is no reason on God's green earth that women should have to put up with 73% of the pay of a man for the same work. Sexism is rampent in society today. When women are regarded as property by men, men see them as baby producing machines. On a Star Trek episode they once had a society with three sexes - -men, "women" and human incubators. It was this third sex that was driven to suicidal desperation. It's true that some women seem to want to be dominated by men. But I suspect this is because they've been brainwashed not to trust themselves. And so they trust not "big brother" but "big husband" to offer them that blanket of economic security. And to get that they will whore themselves out or do whatever is necessary to achieve it.
