You know about the case of Joe Wilson and his wife Valerie, who was an under-cover CIA agent in charge of seeing if Iran had Nukes or not. Well now there is another case referenced on Sixty Minutes last night. There was a woman born in Lebanon who came to this country and joined the FBI having been given a background check, and then joined the CIA given several more rigerous background checks. She was a vallient warrior in the Iraq war and was among those who discovered the whereabouts of Saddam Hussein. She had more than proved the test of loyalty to our country in the heat of battle. But now the Bush administration began investigating her in 2005, or two years after she joined the CIA. They sound her sister and her husband had come under the influence of questionable people. Also another investigation unearthed the fact that she got married merely to become a US citizen. But the statute of limitations had expired on this regulation. The Bush investigations found nothing each time they investigated, but they kept trying. Now the woman is going to be deported after having given so much to her country. This paranoia of the Bush Administration knew no bounds. And the thing is there seemed to be no "referee" to blow the whistle and call a time out and let the dust settle on the situation a little. And that's too bad. I think the Bushys have been watching too many episodes of "24" or something, where the most paranoid suspicious turn out to be true. Many people have stated that the Patriot Act itself was not a response to 9 - 11 but in fact was all scripted out months before 9 - 11 and the Bushys were just looking for an opportunity to put it before congress. And as I have said before, having a law on the books is what they are after because they can use it as selectively as they want, or as abusively as they wish. And when push comes to shove, there is barely a dime's worth of difference between Obama and Bush as far as "national security" is concerned. Obama has never considered civil liberties one of his core values worth fighting for.
In California there is now a new measure on the ballot sponsored by a millionaire, that will outright legalize marijuana for recreational use and not just for medical use. Of course the carrot in this little equation is that California desperately needs the tax revenues that would come from taxing marijuana. It would also drive a lot of the illegal drug dealers out of business. Cops and clergymen don't like it because they don't like anything that would tend to degrade the morals of society. The Foustian bargain is that they will allow alcohol, which is by all accounts a more dangerous substance, both in its effect on the body and its addictive properties. But the argument goes "we already have one vice, and we don't need another". I don't see it that way myself. I guess we finally got the Obama administration to agree not to prosecute medical marijuana cases and perhaps we shouldn't press our luck. But polls indicate there is a narrow plurality of those who prefer legalization. I'd be interested in seeing what the adds for it are like. I don't even know if running adds for this proposition to be seen on TV would be legal.
Well, Larry Elder will be crying crocodile tears over this next story. These pay day loans in the poorer areas enable a person to write a check for three hundred against their account, and get back $255.00. Wouldn't a bank love that deal. Now there are people who want to limit interest rates these pay day people can charge to 36% But they are complaining saying such a punitively low rate will drive them out of business, and how they are there "to serve the market needs of the public".
Play Station 3 has an update that's a real singer. After you load it it will virtually cause your Play Station to self destruct and wipe out all of the information, if you were using LINUX. You've heard Leo Le Port talk about LINUX. It's the sensible alternative operating system. But Play Station regards LINUX and many others as a "Security Risk" and "Only wants to protect you". Like Hell They Do. They're just coming down with another case of Apple-itus.
These Jesus militias want to kill people for Christ and stop the antichrist from rising, or something. The group influence is in three states, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Nine members of a “Christian militia group” out of Michigan were indicted today by a grand jury. The group is accused of wanting to kill federal, state, and local law enforcement officers “in hopes of setting off an anti-government riot”. And then at the funerals of those officers more officers would be killed because they would set off I E D’s or “improvised explosive devices – of the type used by terrorists in the Iraq war” - - where the officers were congregating for the funerals. Pretty trippy. The only three of the nine indicted members that are related to each other are one son and his parents.
Sarah Palin has rifle cross-hairs on her site under the heading of “targeting congressional democrats”. KTLK has stated that “hate speech” ought to be labled as “sedicious” and as such, not protected by the US constitution. Randy Rhodes also said that “Propaganda” as such is “something we use on our enemies in war, but ought not to be allowed in this country”. That’s her opinion. It is said that the more ignorant you are the more tightly you will hold to your beliefs no matter how prejudiced- - the more criticism you get. Hartman calls it a “basic human reaction”. John Mc Cain used to be above this sort of thing being too intelligent to fall for the simple minded syllogisms of the right wing. Sarah Palin spoke of energy independence and yet Saudi Arabian oil executives are the second biggest owners of FOX stock. If the tea party people were just a little smarter they would realize Obama wasn’t their enemy on energy self sufficience because he agrees with them we need more, rather it is FOX and the old Bushies out there who are the enemy. (Selah) People have said that the tea party movement is the first movement in US History that was not anti corporate but actually sponsored by corporations. And again the fact that Mc Cain is now wedded to this crowd shows that when push comes to shove, this group is more corporatist rather than classic conservative, because classic conservatives were against the bank bail-outs of 2008, which Mc Cain is for, and is being attacked as such by his republican opponent in the primary. They called the Saturday event a conservative “Woodstock” and they plan to work their way across the country to be in the Capitol by April 15th. It is said these people on the right “get off” on being talked down to, and they all tune in Glen Beck and listen to every word he says, because they view him as some kind of an authority figure. Randy Rhodes mentioned white phosphorous. My understanding about this substance is that it’s extremely unstable and catches fire when exposed to the air.
In Moscow several female suicide bombers in separate explosions knocked out a subway and were apparently Chechnian rebels. The act was targeted for rush hour for maximum impact. 38 riders were killed and another sixty were injured. People like Chuck Smith believe now that rather than communists, that "World War III" will be triggered by Moslem extremists who live in the southern nations of the former Soviet Union. If Russia were honist they'd offer up a referendum on their whole country about "would you secede from Russia if you had the chance, with no threat of repercussions?"
We always here that Republicans are such bastians of morality. Well, Republican Party chairman, Michael Steel, yesterday went to a lesbian bondage and degradation bar with simulated sex acts in Arizona. Somebody was saying that Sarah Palin wasn't exactly dressed like a desert dweller last Saturday. Somebody roomered that she has her own private tanning both in her office. When Bush and Clinton recently were visiting Haitian children in that country Bush wiped his hands on Clinton’s shirt after touching a black child as if to wipe the “Negro” off. Bill Clinton apparently was not aware of it.
President Obama was scheduled to spend the weekend at Camp David with his family but instead made a surprise trip in the dead of night to Afghanistan. It was a 13 hour flight and also dark when he got there. He spent six hours with the troops and made a speech that would befit any made by George Bush about fighting for a noble cause to keep America safe, and all. I think this war build-up is only in the early stages. I don’t think there’s a person alive who believes we’re really getting out of there summer 2011. I heard on the radio today that Obama is doing a “Nixon on China” in reverse. That is he will be pursuing this war on terror more effectively than President Bush ever could have because of the fact that Democrats will give this President carte blanch, because they think they can trust him. If I were President all these troops would be brought home now- and I wouldn’t be offering an explanation to anybody..
